Tallmadge, Ohio, September 13, 2010 – S. D. Myers, Inc. kicked off the industry’s only in-depth certification program for transformer maintenance specialists this month at their new training and education center.
Engineers, supervisors, maintenance managers and field specialists from industries as diverse as utilities, contractors and large industrials from the US, Central and South America completed the coursework. The overall program consists of three certification program courses:
* Transformer Specialist I (TS1)
* Transformer Specialist II (TS2)
* Master Transformer Specialist (MTS)
S. D. Myers has developed Certification to address what is being called, “The Perfect Storm”. Research indicates that today’s transformer experts are retiring, failure rates of transformers are increasing and standards and tolerances of newer transformers are less forgiving than the industry has been accustomed to. S.D. Myers’ Transformer Specialist Certification curriculum provides preparation for that storm by training the next generation of experts.
This blended learning experience offers fundamental and advanced technical training to all individuals involved in the life of the transformer such as planning, purchasing, transporting, installing, servicing, maintaining, managing, and insuring.
SD Myers has created an online "Virtual Education Center" to facilitate the learning process. The center can be visited at a virtual 3D campus.
