Transformer Lifecycle Management

This course provides the knowledge to successfully plan and manage in the lifecycle of the transformer:  from specification and purchasing; to transportation, assembly and start-up; to field and shop repair options, including end-of-life options; to overall risk and asset management.  Develop and manage a maintenance program and/or lead the overall delivery of that program.  Create purchase and repair specifications, coordinate factory inspections, understand acceptance testing, adhere to transportation and installation requirements, create risk assessments, and make proper field or shop repair decisions.

Advanced DGA Diagnostics

Learn to identify fault gases and what causes their formation. We will explain and provide examples of qualitative and quantitative interpretation of dissolved gases and how to evaluate the condition of cellulose insulation. This class will also examine the role DGA plays in new oil testing and discuss procedures to obtain a representative sample from transformers.

In-Service Inspection & Sampling of Fluid-Filled Transformers

Learn the proper and safe procedures needed to obtain a representative sample of dielectric fluid. Features a sampling demonstration and practical exercises to obtain accurate oils samples for use in lab analysis.

Half-Century Transformer: Re-Energized! (Day One)

This one-day review course takes a new and updated look at the latest standards and best practices in transformer reliability. It covers the fundamentals of transformer oil sampling, testing, analytics and diagnostics. This course provides a solid introduction to transformer maintenance and is also a good review for anyone previously trained.

Risk & Reliability Fundamentals (Day Two AM)

This segment provides the foundation for moving from a testing and maintenance strategy to a reliability strategy. It includes helpful information from the insurance industry and reliability best-practice tools.

Dissolved Gas Analysis Fundamentals (Day Two PM)

This segment is an intensive look at DGA, one of the primary tools for monitoring the health of your transformer. The emphasis is on the changing technology itself and on understanding and using the data generated to make wise, practical decisions.

Load Tap Changer Fundamentals (Day Three AM)

This segment underscores the oft-neglected importance of testing and maintaining LTCs. Our experience has shown that many otherwise well-trained professionals benefit greatly from this training module.

Electrical Testing Fundamentals (Day Three PM)

This segment is dedicated to the important role of electrical testing in pursuit of an in-depth transformer condition assessment. The session also provides an examination of more advanced testing and maintenance strategies.

Additionally, this class discusses monitoring, inspections, and testing required for developing an intelligent preventative load tap changer (LTC) maintenance program.
